About David

I had done everything right, followed the standard advice. My health deteriorated anyway.

For most of my adult life I followed the conventional dietary advice. Grains-based, low in animal and natural fats, lean meats, plenty of vegetables, and processed seed oils in place of butter. The kind of diet that government guidelines still call healthy.

By the time I was 43, I had kidney stones, a fatty liver, a gallbladder full of stones, and rising blood sugar (all discovered incidentally, I hadn't gone looking). I was only a little overweight. I looked fine on the outside. But inside, my body was quietly falling apart. I began seeking answers straight away, but it was a minefield of noise and conflicting information.

At 46, a gallstone lodged in my bile duct. I ended up in emergency surgery to remove an infected gallbladder. I'd already been looking for answers by that point, but that was when I got serious about finding them.

Years of figuring it out

What followed wasn't a quick fix or a 30-day challenge, it was a continuation. Years of reading and research, testing, getting things wrong, adjusting, and learning some more. Thousands of hours. I went back to basics, looking at how humans actually ate before the modern food industry rewrote the rules.

Gradually, I stripped out the grains, the processed foods, the industrial seed oils, the excess carbohydrates. I built my diet around whole foods, adequate protein, and the kind of nutrition my body was designed to thrive on.

Results followed. By 48 my weight and health had stabilised. My body composition continued to improve and I stopped getting sick. My skin cleared up. Even my teeth, which had been deteriorating for years despite good hygiene, stopped breaking down and recovered. I haven't needed a dentist in over a decade.

I'm 59 now. I have more energy and better health markers than I did at 40. Not because I found a secret food or supplement. Because I stopped following bad advice and started feeding my body what it needed.

Why I do this

I grew up on a dairy farm in Australia. Raw milk, farm-raised meat, vegetables from the garden. I was healthy without knowing why. It was just how we ate. It took decades of following conventional wisdom to undo that foundation, and years more to rebuild it.

I've lived and worked in Australia, New Zealand, Brussels, Beijing, Mongolia, and Hong Kong. Along the way, I've built houses, restored Art Deco homes, worked across cultures and languages, and raised a family. Health was never meant to be my profession. It became my focus out of necessity, and now, a life passion.

Once I'd come through the other side, the thing that struck me was how many people around me were in the same position I'd been in. Doing the "right" things. Getting progressively worse. Confused by contradictory advice. Frustrated that nothing seemed to work.

I started having conversations with friends, colleagues, people I met through work and travel. Sharing what I'd learned, pointing them toward resources, helping them think through their own situations. The feedback kept coming back the same way: this was the first time someone had explained it in a way that made sense.

That's what led me here. I'm not trying to be an influencer. I just know that what I figured out over those years can help other people, and I'd rather spend my time doing that than anything else.

What I bring to this

I've spent over a decade researching metabolic health and ancestral nutrition, and I tested all of it on myself before helping anyone else. I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist, and if something's beyond my scope, I'll tell you and refer you to someone who can help. I also have training in community services and individual support, which helps with the people side of this work.

There's a lot of noise in the health space. I'm not here to add to it. I'll tell you what I know, be upfront about what I don't, and help you work out what makes sense for your situation.

Who I work with

Most of the people I talk to have been following conventional advice for years and are frustrated it hasn't worked. They've tried different approaches, read conflicting information, and they're not sure what to believe anymore. Everyone's different, and what works for one person won't necessarily work for another. I work with people individually to find an approach that fits their life.
